Mexico’s evil Thrash Metal maniacs PHANTOM present us a brand new EP! Out now via Doomentia Records (LP), Headsplit Records (tape) and Inframetal Records (CD).
Beginning with some creepy horror vibes, Phantom warns us of an old school attack. This soon subsides, giving way to melodic riffing with an epic feeling where guitars soar upon fierce drumming to give a monolith of instrumental metallic savagery. Kicking things up, the thrashing rage of Phantom is met by truly malicious vocals and high speed intensity from the whole band. Menacing evil and furious speed conjure a molten apparition of demonic Thrash Metal, invoking spectres of old school carnage. Their sense of melody and dynamic is huge, giving the songs a tension that is truly exciting while ravaging all in their path like a reaper of demonic might. Along with having a superb feeling to the music itself, the crushing production values capture a band with merciless energy and so much passion injected into every second, which makes sure all bangers will be raging along to their charnel sounds of morbidity.
Punishing us at every turn with a mix of pounding evil percussion, razoring guitars and lacerating vocals; the entire band deliver a savage Thrash Metal inferno that is fuelled by the hellish traditions of old to perfectly convey an atomic and satanic onslaught that is untainted by the modern bastardisations of the genre. I could believe that this was found in a record crate of some gloomy basement covered in cobwebs, only unearthed to summon total obliteration. As cool as that would be, equally impressive is these Mexican ghouls ability to create such a phenomenal record in the modern day and keep it so true and tasteful. The running time is perfect at 18 minutes, getting in and out with enough time to desecrate your skull in the crypt they drag you to without wasting a breath. Every moment is packed with furore and lust for the macabre and they will grab you willingly or not as the Transylvanian Nightmare haunts your very soul…
