SPLIT REVIEW: Swamp Beast / Void Terror

Delivering the maximum filth as always Me Saco Un Ojo have a new split for us, featuring Swamp Beast and Void Terror. Set to be unleashed on November 12th.

Swamp Beast drive in a pummelling and caustic grind of nicely hooked guitars, slamming drums and guttural spewing with a crusty groove that accentuates the onslaught of harsh and pervasive Death Metal brutality to a ridiculous level. The howling discordance of the instrumentals and reverberate vocals are hugely atmospheric while still sharp and disdainful, never becoming weak. There is a similar feeling to that of Spectral Voice with a cavernously monolithic soundscapes that is still packed with exciting riffs, pounding drum work and meaty vocals, truly savage spiteful filth.

Void Terror are a band I reviewed the 7″ single of relatively recently (which those who read it will know I loved). Blisteringly cold guitars and snappy drums bring in a massive wall of atmospherics, continuing in the bludgeoning vein of their previous material, perhaps dialling back the Swedish influence but without losing any of the guttural doom elements. Hammering into more vile Death Metal, these guys perfectly balance Swamp Beast with a slightly more abrasive but equally fetid ambience to their odious violence. The blistering lead work adds a skilful technicality to their sound while still not detracting from the massive layers of rhythmic aggression.

As suspected, Me Saco Un Ojo has delivered another fantastic addition in the Death Metal scene, supporting the true underground and choosing only the most ferocious artists. Check out this split if you dig more doomy Death Metal that still retains a fierce and hateful edge. -8.5/10
