Crisp riffing and melodies atop tight percussion give the immediately epic feeling that these South American maniacs always deliver so flawlessly. Their gritty street-wise charm is always fun and yet ferocious, with songs that pack one hell of a punch. There is a simplistic but evocative and tasteful way the vocals flow atop the bass-driven assault where the entire band can be heard in their full glory. Triumphant moods and enchanting songwriting aside, the overall feel of the music is old school and raw to-the-bone, which in spite of some more up-to-date standards feels natural and impassioned. Although generally upbeat, there is dynamics and emotion in this music which can be melancholic and yet always reverts back to that battle-ready charge forward, into honour and Heavy Metal delights.
Forged in the underground flames in 2007, the discography of this band has been sparse and yet every release feels meaningful and worthwhile. Rather than rushing out an endless string of products, they put out real Heavy Metal music when it suits them. This authentic approach ensures real underground maniacs get something they truly want rather than recycled cliches to a lazy backing track. Acero Letal are no gimmick-riders, but real legions of “Duro Metal”, a sound they can absolutely claim to uphold. If the Flying V in the logo didn’t sell you, nor the kickass cover artwork, then be absorbed by the traditionalist magic of their new songs on “Legiones” which features the band sounding as strong and unforgiving as ever. Showing posers no mercy and keeping it true, Acero Letal are back with a vengeance on these magnificent 8 songs.
